Background Story

Once upon a time, the world was divided in two according to the mandate of heaven, but was restored to its former self by the Chosen of Regeneration. In place of the Giant Kharlan Tree that had been destroyed in ancient times, a new World Tree was born.

With the reunited new world came the birth of new chaos. Before the world was restored, the world of Tethe'alla was prosperous, while the world of Sylvarant was in decline. This gap in civilization only brought division among the people as time went on.

Two years after world regeneration, a massive massacre known as the Blood Purge occurred in retaliation to the activities of the Vanguard, a resistance group called the Sylvarant Liberation Front. The town where this tragedy occurred, Palmacosta, was consumed in flames, and many innocent lives were lost. The man who carried out this tragic deed was Lloyd and was sanctioned by the Church of Martel.

Two years after the world's rebirth, in a corner of the now-united world ruled by chaos, the actions of the resistance group called the Sylvarant Liberation Front, The Vanguard, caused a massive retaliation known as "The Blood Purge." The town where this tragedy occurred, Palmacosta, was consumed in flames, and many innocent lives were lost. The man who carried out this tragic deed was Lloyd, of the Church of Martel.

The Blood Purge left one boy with an incurable wound on his heart. His name is Emil. Having lost both his parents and his hometown, all he has left is his hatred for Lloyd.

Emil remained alone, opening his heart to no one, until one day, he heard a mysterious howl. Guided by the howl, Emil doesn't realize that this is his first step towards a destiny that will lead him to the ends of the world.

Emil Castagnier
Age: 16 Gender: Male Height: 169cm (5'5")

He lost his parents in the Blood Purge that occurred in the town of Palmacosta. He has a straightforward personality, and an innocence that leads him to believe anything he is told. Generally a coward, he's not successful in anything that requires a great force of will.

Marta Lualdi
Age: 16 Gender: Female Height: 153cm (5')

Marta lost her mother when the Giant Tree rampaged throughout the world. Determined and unafraid to make her voice known, she is not satisfied unless she can think of things in absolutes. She hates Colette for killing her mother and Lloyd for attacking Palmacosta.

Tenebrae
Age: 16 Gender: Male Height: 153cm (5')

A being shrouded in darkness, Tenebrae is one of the Centurions that accompany the Summon Spirit Ratatosk. Tenebrae’s personality is calm and collected, but he also likes jokes and can be rather gregarious, showing that he has a human side.

Richter Abend
Age: 20 Gender: Male Height: 180cm (5'9")

Richter is searching for Ratatosk's core. Sarcastic to a point, he is relentless in the pursuit of his goal. He meets Emil on his quest, and while he's disgusted to see such a cowardly character and passive attitude from him, he asks Emil to help him.

Lloyd Irving
Age: 19 Gender: Male Height: 178cm (5'8")

He is hot-tempered and soft-hearted, though he aims to be a cool, nice guy. While revered by some as the hero of regeneration, those who have been unsatisfied since the regeneration resent him. Though he participated in the Blood Purge in Palmacosta, he himself neither approved nor disapproved of the action taken there. He currently acts alone, and nothing is known about what happened to his friends.

Colette Brunel
Age: 16 Gender: Female Height: 158cm (5'2")

As the Chosen of Regeneration who saved the world, she is the object of hatred to those who oppose the new order. Despite the hostility, Colette continues to lead the Church of Martel in charitable work and helps people in need. Her manner is as always easygoing and spontaneous, and treats even her mistakes as if they are good fortune. Ever since her adventure, she has not been afraid to assert herself.
